Thank
you for your support of our very successful Night at the Races.We sold all of the horses and jockeys
and it was the best attended we have had.
MAY/JUNE
CALENDAR:There is an early
dismissal on Friday, May 10th and no school on May 21, Election Day.School is closed on Memorial Day, May
27.
Also,
we will dismiss at 11:30 on June 4, Tuesday, and our closing Mass will be
Wednesday, June 5, at the church.Dismissal for summer will be immediately after Mass from the church.Buses will pick students up in the
church lot.
FIRST
COMMUNION:Our second graders will
receive First Communion either in the traditional group ceremony on May 5 or
the family ceremony on May 12.Please pray for these children on this very special day.
BAND:Our band will combine with students
from three other schools and participate in a travelling concert that will be
held at each of the school on May 14.The band will be here at 1:30.Also, this same band will perform at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, at
Saint Sylvester School.
ASCENSION
THURSDAY:The holyday Mass will be
celebrated in the gym at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 9.The school May Crowning will be held following the Mass.
BIG
RAFFLE:The BIG raffle will be on
Friday, May 17.Thank you, Mrs.
Saxon, for arranging this special event for the students as well as the monthly
raffles.
CONFERENCES:We do not have school on Tuesday, May
21, because elections are being held in the building.However, teachers will be available and you may schedule an
appointment to speak with them.A
form will be sent home before the 21st.
SOUTH
PARK:The annual picnic will be on
Friday, May 24.The students will
be transported to and from the park by bus.You will receive permission forms and information later in
the month.This is always such a
fun time for the kids – although I am always relieved when they are all back in
the building.
CLOSING
CEREMONIES: Four year old Preschool has their closing ceremony on Wednesday,
May 29, and the Kindergarten program is May 31.The eighth grade will receive their certificates immediately
following the four o’clock Mass on Saturday, June 1.
Congratulations
to 8th grader Josh Gardner who was chosen to play on the all-star
basketball team in the recent Roundball Tournament.And, sixth grader, Paige Bowermaster, was the second place art
winner in the Pittsburgh Pirates’ Jackie Robinson Contest.Paige received tickets to a game and
was recognized at the park.Several other students also were given game tickets for their entries.
Kennywood
tickets will be available at the school on May 17.The tickets are $24 each and only cash or money orders are
accepted.
