DRESS CODE

Appropriate dress helps students foster a positive attitude about themselves and about school and learning.  The uniform dress code is followed by all students in grades 1 through 8.  Our uniform provider is Educational Outfitters located at 1910 Cochran Road (Behind Max & Erma�s) .  The phone # is 412-973-7187 and the web address is www.EducationalOutfitters.com.  

Girls in grades 1 through 4 wear either the blue plaid jumper or the navy uniform shorts with a long vest.  Girls in these grades wear light blue or white blouses with Peter Pan collars.  Girls in grades 5 through 8 wear either plaid skirts, plaid split-skirts or navy uniform shorts with a long vest.  Girls in these grades wear either oxford or pointed collars blouses in light blue or white.  Navy slacks (neat and well-fitting, not corduroy) may also be worn with the long vest. Sweaters are to be the uniform varsity sweater in navy.  Girls are expected to wear the vest, sweater, or sweatshirt at all times.  If the sweater is worn as �outside� clothing and will be removed during the day, students must have a vest available. Boys wear dark pants, either black or navy with a belt and light blue or white shirts with collars.  Boys may also wear the uniform shorts.  Polo shirts are permitted.  Cargo pants or cargo shorts are not permitted.  Sweaters are to be either solid navy or white.  Boys must wear crew socks with a cuff.  Girls may wear navy or white knee socks or crew socks with a cuff.

Please pay special attention to the length of skirts and shorts.  They should be no shorter than two inches above the knees and the waistbands should not be altered. All clothing should be in good condition.  In colder weather, students may wear the school logo uniform sweatshirts available at Educational Outfitters  (only) in place of sweaters.  Over-sized clothing is NOT permitted.  Make-up is not permitted and no piercing other than earrings.

Students-boys and girls-may wear either dress shoes or low-cut tennis shoes (in good condition) in solid white, black or navy, excluding minimal trim.  High tops may NOT be worn - including boots; shoes must be completely tied.  (When looking for shoes, please keep in mind that sturdy tie-ons are best suited to the playground.  Sandals, clogs, high-heeled shoes are not permitted.) 

For gym classes, students may wear sweat pants or gym shorts, T-shirts, and tennis shoes.  Children will not be permitted to participate without gym clothes.  Tank tops and shorts other than gym shorts are not permitted.

PLEASE NOTE:  We have a number of uniform jumpers and lots of blouses that have been gently worn.  There are also some boys pants and shirts.  If you�d like to see what�s available, please call the school office and arrange a time.  There is no cost for these items; all we ask is that you return the favor if you have anything usable that has been outgrown!
