Dear Parents,

What a great beginning we have had! It’s always so much nicer in the building when the kids are back. It’s a surprise to see how much they have grown over the summer. I have to say, from visiting classrooms, they have come back ready to do their best – and, even when they won’t admit it, they are ready to get back into their routine.

September Calendar: There is no school for PS through 8th grade on Monday, October 8, due to a teacher in-service. Friday, October 26, K through 8 will not be in session for a clerical day. There will be preschool on that day.

Grades: By now, many of you have had an opportunity to look at the new grading program. Grades for the first quarter will close on Thursday, October 25. Report cards are on November 2.

PTG News: There is a Board meeting on Thursday, October 11, to firm up the plans for the Fall Family Night. This very popular Halloween-themed party is on the evening of Friday, October 26. I know some of the students are already planning their costumes. There will be an in-school raffle on Friday, October 19, with cakes!

Dress Down Day: The PTG is also sponsoring classroom parties on the afternoon of Halloween. Students may dress down – but they have to include black and orange in their outfits!

Athletics: There are still a few more home games for girls’ volleyball – the dates are listed on the calendar. Come and see them play. And, there will be a meeting for parents of student athletes on Saturday, October 6, 10 a.m. Basketball season officially begins on October 15.

Eighth Grade: The Class of 2013 has been invited to visit Seton-LaSalle High School on Tuesday, October 9. Parents of 8th graders will receive more details and a permission form soon.

Picture Day: The photographer will be here on Friday, October 12, to take individual pictures of the students. They may “dress up” for the pictures – no jeans, football jerseys, t-shirts, etc. Please remember that this picture is used for the yearbook and “fun” pictures are taken in the spring.

Fundraisers: We are very proud of the fact that we do NOT require our families to pay a fund-raising fee. We do, however, rely on this income to provide “extras” for the students that our budget can’t accommodate – assemblies, the South Park picnic, Catholic Schools Week activities, etc. Please support the candy and candle sales that are now running. The Yankee orders are due on October 5 and the Sarris orders are due on October 15.

Middle School Faith Rally: This diocesan sponsored event will be in our gym on Friday, November 2. Students in grades 6 through 8 are invited to participate. Details will come from the office of Youth Ministry.

Band: We have several students in grades 4 through 8 participating this year. Once again, they are under the direction of Mr. Tom Booth. If you are interested and missed the initial registration, please call the school office and Mr. Booth will contact you.

Reminder: Tuition is due the 10th of each month. Please help us to keep our budget!!!

Enjoy the beauty of fall!

God bless,

Mrs. J
