Dear Parents,

Well, the weather has definitely changed our CSW plans.  We will re-schedule the Radical Reptiles and the other canceled events when it is a little warmer!  Needless to say, it is a frustrating time for all of us.  I know the kids really enjoy this week and I am disappointed for them.

FEBRUARY CALENDAR:  We will dismiss oat 11:30 on Friday, February 14.  There WILL be school on Monday, February 17, for a make-up day.

FEAST OF SAINT BLAISE:  There will be an all school Mass on Monday, February 3, with Blessing of Throats.  You are welcome to join us at 9:10 in the gym.

VALENTINE PARTIES:  Because Lent has a late start this year, we will have class parties on Thursday, 2/13.

ATHLETICS:  The instructional teams will have their Presidents Day Tournament on February 22 and 23.  The Miracles in March tournament will begin on 2/27.  And, Saturday, February 22, is eighth grade recognition.  There is a lot happening and volunteers are needed.

LOTTERY CALENDARS:  The January winners are already receiving their checks.  A very special thank you is in order for Renee Laurie Cortopassi, who is coordinating them.  She spent MANY hours selling the tickets at church as well!  Over $12,000 in tickets were sold and we will know the profit at the end of March.

PRESCHOOL NEWS:  We have had several requests for an all day, full week preschool program for four year olds and we will begin the program if we have eight registered.  As of Open House on Sunday, we tentatively have five persons interested.  If you would want this program or know someone who does, please call the school office for registration papers.  We will still also offer the half day program and the three year old program as they are currently.

REGISTRATION PAPERS:  The papers are being sent home today.  Please return the re-registration papers as soon as possible.  They help us to make staffing and material plans for next year.

FINANCIAL AID:  Please notice that the income limits have been raised for financial aid.  You are urged to complete the aid application to take advantage of the funds that are available.  This year, Hayes Group Architects, Cipriani and Werner Law, and Fieldcrest Steel Corporation donated EITC money specifically targeted for our school.    We are grateful to these companies.  Please keep the EITC option in mind if you or someone you know owns a business.

Also this year, we have also received two new scholarships, the Mary Fahey Scholarship and the Jessie Egan Smith Scholarship.  These awards will be made based on need as determined from the aid application.  These scholarships are in addition to the Francis Creehan, Don and Jill Hillebrand, and Norma Miller Scholarships already established.

ANNIVERSARY:  Plans for the celebrations of the church’s 125th and school’s 120th anniversaries are well under way.  We are still trying to locate alumni and, if you know any of our graduates, please have them go to our website and register.  There are several events planned and the school will be featured in the one on September 14.  Bishop Zubik will celebrate the 10 am Mass at the church and this will be followed by a catered brunch and Open House at the school.  We would love to be able to have table seating for classes who want to gather and socialize on this day.  We need their information on the database to be able to make this happen!

Please pray for no more weather disruptions!

 God bless,

Mrs. J
