November 28, 2012

Dear Parents,

November ends with one of the students’ favorite activities – our Santa Shop will be open for business during the school day on Friday, November 30.  It’s especially fun to watch the littler ones as they seriously shop for those little inexpensive gifts that become mothers’ treasures.  And, of course, the next day, December 1, is the very popular Breakfast with Santa.  I hope you have your reservation made!

Then, this coming Sunday, December 2, we will celebrate the First Sunday of Advent.  This liturgical season is a time to prepare for Jesus’ birth.  Too often, we get so caught up in the frenzy of shopping and celebrating and we don’t take the time to really reflect on the true meaning of the holiday.   Plan some special time, as a family, to remember the coming of the Savior.

DECEMBER CALENDAR:  School will close on Friday, December 21, at 11:30 a.m.  We return on Thursday, January 3.

PROGRAMS:  The children in K through 8 will present a Christmas program on Wednesday, December 19, at 1:30 in the gym.  Students may leave with parents after the performance.  The Middle School Musical is at the church on Monday, the 17th at 6:30 p.m.  The Band Concert, featuring our students together with students from St. Sylvester, St. Gabriel, and BRC, will be on Tuesday, December 18, at BRC, 7:00 p.m.

CONFESSIONS:  The students will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation here at school on Monday, 12/10.

CONFIRMATION:  Bishop David Zubik will administer the Sacrament of Confirmation to the ninth graders of the parish on Tuesday, the 4th.  Please pray for these young men and women as they receive the Holy Spirit in this special way.

Please remember that you are always welcome to attend Mass with us here at school – both in the chapel and on the gym.  I hope some of you will attend our all school Advent Mass in the gym Friday, the 21st, before we dismiss for the Christmas vacation.

The faculty and I extend our wishes that you have a blessed and peaceful Advent and a Christmas filled with wonder.

 God bless,

 Mrs. J
