 Dear Parents,

December is a short but very busy month around here!

ADVENT:  The liturgical season of Advent begins on Sunday, December 1.   In spite of all the holiday fussing, the Church gives us this season to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas.  It is a time of quiet waiting for the gift of Jesus.  Using Advent calendars and wreaths in your homes is a good way to take a few minutes and reflect on the true celebration.  And, please join us for an Advent Mass on Friday, December 20, at 9:10 a.m. in the gym.

SCHOOL OUTREACH:  Representative Erin Molchany will do a short presentation for the students in grades 4 through 8 on Tuesday, December 3.  She will be joined by members of the PA Department of Conservation.

SANTA WORKSHOP & BREAKFAST: Students will have the opportunity to do some of their own Christmas shopping on Friday, December 6.  The very popular breakfast with Santa is the following day.  You have received information from the PTG about both the events.

BARNES AND NOBLE BOOK FAIR:  Our school will receive a percentage of the sales at the South Hills store on Sunday, December 8.  Our students will present a few songs and some of their forensics speeches and there will be a guest author, Erin Frankel, reading from one of her books.  And, of course, you will want one of the Cyclone Smoothies from the coffee bar.  I hope to see you there!

CONFESSIONS:  Confession will be held for students in grades 3 through 8 on Monday, December 16.

CHRISTMAS PROGRAM:  All grades will present a short musical program on Wednesday, December 18, at 1:30 p.m.  Students should dress up for the program – Christmas colors or sweaters.  No jeans, please.  Students will be dismissed immediately after the program if parents are able to take them.  Busing is also available at the regular time.

BAND CONCERT:  A combined band from our school, Saint Sylvester, Saint Gabriel, and Brookline Regional will present a Christmas concert on Tuesday, December 17, at BRC, 7:00 p.m.

RAFFLE:  The December raffle, with cakes, is Friday, December 20.

LOTTERY CALENDARS:  Don’t forget to buy or return the calendars that were sent home.  This money goes directly into our operating budget and helps to keep our tuition one of the most affordable around.  And, the calendars make great gifts – one that lasts for three whole months after the holiday.  Additional tickets are available in the school office.

CHRISTMAS VACATION:  School will dismiss on Friday, 12/20. At 11:30 a.m.  We reopen on Monday, January 6.

Have a blessed Advent and joy-filled Christmas!

 God bless,

 Mrs. J
